Jon L. Duman represents the second generation of the Duman family to practice law in the East Bay Area. Mr. Duman has over nine years of business, media, and entertainment law experience, with particular emphasis in the area of business start-ups, personal services agreements, and intellectual property development and protection. Mr. Duman actively represents a wide range of media and entertainment industry professionals, including performing artists, writers, promoters, record labels, production companies, software designers, tech consultants, and on-line businesses, in such diverse areas as contract negotiation and litigation, collaborations & other joint ventures, and copyright & trademark ownership and licensing issues. Due to his familiarity with general business concerns, Jon Duman is also able to advise and assist clients with regard to a variety of non-entertainment/media related subjects, including asset, property and/or business acquisition and divestiture, ownership rights and liabilities, entity formation, and most other commercial transactions.

Jon Duman is a graduate of the University of California at Davis, and received his Juris Doctor degree in 1992 from Santa Clara University, School of Law. He is a member of the State Bar of California’s Business and Intellectual Property Law Sections, in addition to the American Bar Association’s Entertainment and Sports Law Forum. Mr. Duman is also a panel attorney for the California Lawyers for the Arts, a non-profit organization providing various resources to local entertainment and media professionals. Mr. Duman volunteers much of his time working with the C.L.A., and other groups such as The Small Business Administration, the Professional and Technical Consultants Association (PATCA), The Northern California Song-Writers Association, the IEEE Engineering Consultants Network, and the City of Berkeley Public Library, by regularly participating in business seminars, special events, legal workshops, and one-on-one counseling for individuals and businesses. Jon Duman is also a volunteer mediator and arbitrator with the Arts Arbitration and Mediation Service, an alternative dispute resolution program of the California Lawyers for the Arts.
